Tidbit Tuesday: Building Your Foundation

Tidbit Tuesday: Building Your Foundation

Hi everyone, welcome to Tidbit Tuesday. I
wanted to do something a little bit different when I was thinking about
different content ideas I sort of just felt like we were in this spot and this
is probably just reflecting my mental headspace as well but kind of being at
this point where it’s great to be learning new things and getting excited
about new ideas and challenges but I know for me at least anyway I’m kind of
at this point sort of not really knowing what direction to take with everything
and sort of feeling like you know I’ve I’ve stopped taking time to really get
myself the space I need to not just you know recharge but also you know just
give myself the space I actually not know what direction to take and have
more freedom to try those new things and not necessarily have to have an end goal
in mind every time couple of notes I have that I just wanted to share with
you just in case you know it might spark an idea for yourself something you might
be able to implement the first thing I have here is take regular breaks I feel
like I have that kind of personality type of is really getting sucked into
something I’m feeling like oh just one more thing just one more thing so I’ve
actually started to set alarms on my phone just as a reminder to take a quick
mental break at 10:00 and then of course at lunch but then at 2:00 and on four
o’clock throughout the day and that kind of goes into my second note of just
recording like a quick note of how I’ve been feeling and what’s going on because
again I was very typical for myself to kind of cast whatever emotions I
currently have on everything else that’s happened throughout the day which can
easily create kind of a skewed perspective of what actually happened
removing distractions is my third one I recently listened to there’s a workplace
podcast by Adam grant through TED talks and he had a quick little blurb on there
about how even just having your cell phone sitting on your desk can decrease
your productivity by I think it was 5 or 10% so things like that just removing as
many distractions as possible and making sure that when I’m taking the time to
sit down I’ll work on something that I’m giving that my full focus and not
bouncing around between that and and you know all these other things that
could be going on and then the next couple are definitely more personal to
me for a while I had actually been meditating almost daily but I kind of
just fell out of that so I think even just taking you know five or ten minutes
every day just to give myself the space to not be doing anything to not feel
like I have to be thinking about anything specific also just more so of a
bedtime routine making sure I’m not on any digital devices preferably reading a
book instead and then the last couple is just more general which I tend to
already do but more so focusing on this throughout the day and not just my
normal routine of working out in the morning so finding movement throughout
the day and just making sure that I’m actually eating my snacks and the clean
food that I’m packing and drinking my water this more so came up my fiance and
I are getting married at the end of the month and kind of fell into the last
couple of weeks just like eating a lot of desserts and things that we don’t
normally eat and he ended up getting a cold and I think that spooked both of us
really good okay like we need to cleanse cleanse our bodies we need to be super
healthy the next month so that we don’t get sick just be more mindful of the
long term goals of the impact that our choices are actually having so those are
all the little reminders I wrote down for myself in terms of just trying to
rebuild that daily routine and that foundation so that’s kind of the
direction that I’m going with that and again I just wanted to share that with
you because I feel like especially on things like social media and even
LinkedIn there was a lot of information about do your job better do more things
learn new things and if you’re anything like me it’s really easy to get cop in
that and almost feel bad and I think a lot of it is because we’re just always
pressuring ourselves to beyond that really being mindful of what we’re doing
in each moment and you know how those decisions actually impact us long-term
so that’s all I had today you know if you have any sort of routines or
practices that you have that you find are helpful I would love to hear about
those are I know today was a little little bit longer of a video and kind of
maybe a rant I don’t know um but again if you’re anything like me
I always love listening to stuff like this and hearing what other people are
trying out anyway I hope you’re all doing well and I will always see you
next week for our next Tidbit Tuesday.
