I went to Spencers Business College, because I didn’t think my parents
could afford to send me to a college. So, I went to Spencers Business College
for about a year, and graduated from there. And then, I got hired
by Krause & Managan Lumber Company, which was a little chain in Louisiana. They had seven yards in here, Crowley and Lake Charles.
It was headquartered, really, in Lake Charles, and that’s where it got started. After we started the business,
and they hired me as a bookkeeper because I’d been
at Spencer’s Business College. I did bookkeeping there until
about a year or two after I was hired, and then they made me paint manager,
and then assistant manager. I worked there for about ten years, and they sold the business.
The guy who owned it was actually a guy from Dallas, Texas. He owned a little chain of yards. After we got finished with all of that, we worked there for that many years. So Mr. Gonsoulin called me, he had Gonsoulin Lumber Company in Scott. And he had a construction company,
commercial construction company. After, he decided that he was going
to run the little lumberyard, he hired a guy, then he hired me to manage it. And wanted to manage the lumberyard,
so I did and did pretty darn well.
