Priority Based Connection methods in ARCHICAD


this video presents the three methods applied when connecting elements to perform priority based connections the first PBC connection method is called the reference line method this method is used by walls and beams and has already been available in previous versions of ArchiCAD as well if the reference lines of two walls or beams joins or intersects the connection is automatically created this method is a solution only for wall to wall and beam to beam intersections the second and most widely used PBC connection method is the so called collision method with this new method connections between colliding elements are automatically generated the connection is based on the intersection priority values defined by the building materials assigned to basic elements or element skins of composite elements a similar method already existed in previous versions of ArchiCAD however that method was available for walls columns beams and slabs and it didn’t work on a skin by skin basis as it does now the new collision method is also available for walls columns beams and slabs if the bodies of these elements collide all their individual skin intersections will be handled according to their intersection priority values please note that layers of the colliding elements still need to have the same intersection Group number for the connection to be established the third PBC connection method is created with the help of the connection commands this method the connection between a roof shell or morph and another element of the seven possible participating element types using the connection command we can instruct archicad to perform the automatic priority based connection between the connected elements
