Material Estimator Bags of Concrete and Volume How To

Now let me show you how to use your
Material Estimator to figure out how much concrete you need for any size job. Say you’ve got a small patio you’re
going to pour and it’s [1][0][Feet] [7][Inch] [x] [1][2][Feet] [8][Inch]. There’s the square footage. Now
you just multiply it by the depth. Let’s say we’re going to go 3 1/2 inches.
[x][3][.][5] [Inch] [=] 1.44 cubic yards You might want to
add 5 percent for waste. So it’ll be about 1 1/2 cubic yards.
That would be probably something you would call your local ready mix company for. But if
you have a smaller job or a quick repair job you want to do, like a small walkway. Say it’s an 8 foot walkway [8][Feet] [x] [3][Feet] wide by the [3][.][5] [Inch] thick. [=] about .25 cubic yards. That’s too small
to call the ready mix company, so you can use the built-in concrete bags function
here. It’ll tell you that for forty pound bags you’ll need 21 of them. For 80 pound bags you’ll need 10.5,
or make that 11 bags. It will also give you the quantity of 60 pound bags. So
depending on the size stocked by your local home center, it’ll tell you how many
bags of concrete you need. So that’s a quick overview on the
concrete function. For more details you can download our user’s guide at
