Make-Up Tips: How to Apply Mascara with Caroline Barnes | Max Factor

Hi. My name is Caroline Barnes. And I’m Max Factor’s makeup artist. And, girls, I’m just going to give
you a few little tips and tricks on how to make the best of your
lashes and how to kind of freshen up your makeup throughout the day. So the first complaint
I hear about mascara is, oh, mascara always
bleeds underneath my eyes. So what you need to do
is take a little bit of translucent powder with
a brush and just powder just directly underneath your eye here
before you put your mascara on. And that should solve that problem. In terms of curling your
eyelashes before you mascara, bend your lashes firstly just at the
root, hold them for eight seconds, look directly into the mirror. Just release very slightly, go up
the hair shaft, and bend again. This way, you get a
nice curve of the lash. Secondly, it’s great to
use a nice metal comb. You can get plastic combs
for doing your mascara, but it just bends against the mascara. Use a wire comb like this. It’s much, much better
than the plastic ones. And it really does break
through the mascara and give you that long,
lengthening finish to your lashes. Any kind of pick-me-up
during the day is great. At lunch time, use a little bit of
the Miracle cream soft cream blusher just on the apples of your cheeks here. It comes out very, very soft
and just gives you that boost. In terms of lip gloss, remember,
lip gloss doesn’t hydrate your lip. So at lunch time, get rid
of the lot, remoisturizer, and apply your lip gloss. And you’ll find that your lips
stay softer most of the day. Good look.
