Koffee on the Healing Power of Music

Koffee on the Healing Power of Music

– I’ve had moments of anxiety. Just starting my music career and not knowing what to do next. What my next step would be, what my family would think. I believe that reggae
music has always been a source of healing, putting a positive spin to the things you go through in life. That’s something that
can benefit the world. Jamaica is a place that
likes to watch you. If they don’t know you, they’re not gonna cheer
even if you’re good, they’ll just watch you to
see what you’re gonna do and then when you’re done, they’re like, “Hm, all right I see you.” It’s definitely exciting to
come to places that I know people really rave for music
regardless of who you are or whether they know you or not. – This’ll be her first
time on a big platform. I know she’s looking forward to it. We’re doing two weekends. – Before big performances, I try to pray. Just stick to what are my roots. – She’s younger than me and I’m like, this
little girl is helping me step out of my shell. – Koffee brings so much fire. We saw how she can grab the
attention of the entire world. – The
princess of reggae music. Let me hear you make
some noise for Koffee! – Thank you very much. Before I leave, I want everyone
in this audience to know that you’re very special to me because you’ve now become
a part of my journey. – If you have something
to be thankful for. If you have something to be grateful for, can I hear you make some noise, please? I feel very thankful
for everyone here today, so I say gratitude is a must. I definitely don’t
believe in limiting myself to just a one drop reggae beat or collaborating with only reggae artists. I definitely see myself spreading my wings and going outside of that, but also carrying the
legacy of reggae music with me as I go. Take it to heights that
it’s never seen before, not for myself, but for the
people who will come after and for the people who
set the pace before. I want to make reggae music grow. I want to give back to the people who have supported me all my life. That would really make my heart full.
