How To Make A Timber & Concrete Bench

– [Emily] I’m Emily and I’ll be showing
you how to make a Besser block bench using Besser blocks and a fence panel. For this project, you’ll need Besser
blocks, a caulking gun and Liquid Nails, a level, a pencil, a tape measure,
some gloves, and this great panel fencing that we’re going to use
as the main seating. First thing I’m going to do is measure
my fence panel to determine where the Besser blocks are going to go. ♪ [music] ♪ The blocks are a bit heavy and a bit rough
around the edges, so I’m going to put some gloves on just to make sure
my hands are protected. ♪ [music] ♪ I’ve positioned them so that there’s going
to be an even distribution of weight when people are sitting on them. So I’ve put this block up on its side
because we want to make sure we have more legroom at the front of the seating. I’m also going to be doing a second block
on top of each of these to make sure it’s all balanced out. Apply the Liquid Nails with a nice,
even pressure and then place the second block on top. So now I’m going to get a friend to come
in and help me place the fence panel down which is going to
make the seat of our bench. ♪ [music] ♪ – [Gus] Nice.
– Good job. Thanks, Gus. ♪ [music] ♪ For a more permanent option,
you can Liquid Nails the fence panel to the Besser blocks, but because
I’m renting and I might want to move this any time I like,
I’m going to keep it unattached so it’s easy to transport. Add some cushions and a throw and you’ve
got yourself a beautiful outdoor bench. Outdoor benches can be really expensive,
but thanks to Bunnings, this one was cheap
and easy to put together.
