Name is R.J. McGinsey with Premier South Roofing and Sheet
Metal from Baton Rouge Louisiana. We’ve been in business now for 5 years and
1 month. What does being an Atlas guy mean to you? It’s believing in what you install. From our perspective, we don’t just install
it for the Scotchgard. We don’t just install it for the HP. We install it for the thickness and the durability
of the mat first and foremost. And we see it after hail, after wind, and
whatnot. Scotchgard is you know simply the bonus in
being the Atlas guy in our area. We live up to a bigger standard. What makes you use Atlas products over others? We started using Atlas in 2009 and we haven’t
stopped since. The reason why we use it, it wasn’t the double
tar strip, because it wasn’t out yet. It wasn’t the Scotchgard, it was the thickness
of the shingle and that still holds today. We go into hail stricken areas and Atlas roof
is not as damaged. How do you showcase the product line when
meeting with the homeowner? I go in depth with, of course, with what we
are going to do first and sell them on our own company. Then go into the Scotchgard and go into the
thickness of the shingles. It’s a pretty easy battle after that. The biggest thing is on how it is installed. An Atlas shingle is an Atlas shingle it is
the best in the market. Do you offer Atlas Signature Select Warranties
to the homeowner? I’d say that 85% of our business is Signature
Select in the shingle market. The Signature Select is a top seller for us
for sure. Do you use our Shingle Visualizer? We do use it a good bit. We have probably 3 out of 6 residential salesmen
that use the iPad every single day. We actually have an Atlas Roofing Visualizer
on our website as well. So we are a strong believer of the Visualizer. How do you present the 3M Scotchgard protector
shingles to a homeowner? When you say “Scotchgard” they catch it right
away. And the only thing you have to do is walk
out of the front door of any home and you will see stained roofs. No matter if they are 2-5 years old. They will be stained already. So once you show them the technology, you
go through and show them the details with the Scotchgard, it’s a pretty easy sell after
that. The biggest thing they are looking at, of
course, is the longevity of the roof. And if the proper installation is there there
is no better team we could team up with than Scotchgard. How do you feel about the support Atlas provides? Atlas shows a ton of support. I won’t install too many manufacturers because
there is no support at all. I’m scared if I have an issue it will not
be taken care of. If I can’t get in touch with them on a color
or whats in stock, we’re going to have a problem. So Atlas is, they are big for us, they are
big. Anytime I need something they are right there.
